  17. This document specifies an extension of the Routing Information
  18. Protocol (RIP), as defined in RFC 1058, to expand the amount of useful
  19. information carried in RIP packets and to add a measure of security.
  20. A companion document will define the SNMP MIB objects for RIP-2.  This
  21. memo is a product of the RIP-2 Working Group of the Internet
  22. Engineering Task Force (IETF).

  24. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  25.  
  26. This RFC specifies an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  27. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  28. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  29. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
